Hoping for a fat goose

Hamamatsu's been getting Christmassy I guess. Same lights, same music, same 'buy me' competing in the windows. But there's not so much joy. They've adopted all the commercial trappings without any of the personal effects... and no Christmas pudding too.
I've been making snowflakes and Christmas cards with my kids this week; and although it's had a magnificient calming effect on the more rumbustious students they just don't care very much. Apparently Christmas here is seen as a holiday for lovers. Typically booking into a love-hotel is the thing to do.
But some of my students are getting into the spirit and enjoying my rendition of White Christmas as I wander around the classroom. The best of which was the student who addressed his Christmas card 'To all people' and presented it to me (presumably as a fine representative of all people).

Went to my Board of Education party last night which was followed by 3 hours of Christmas themed karaoke. Good times.
